Copy-paste / matryoshka
The appeal to tradition is a popular trend that is relevant worldwide. This time in the "copy-paste" rubric, where we compare visually similar, but different cost items, we decided to consider a Russian traditional toy – a matryoshka. The collection of three dolls, invented by different designers and for different purposes.
Young St. Petersburg designers make matryoshkas, in which there is no kitsch. Their brand of silver jewelry is called Matryoshka, and the way they have managed to alter the doll's image makes one want to give it as a present not only to friends from abroad, but also to themselves. For this collection we've chosen flat earrings Matryoshka Sarafan Middle in the form of a blue doll. The jewelry is made of silver and covered with hot enamel. A collection of ceramic tiles called "Dolls" for a Turkish brand VitrA had been thought up by Dima Loginov in 2011, and in the following year, it won two prestigious awards in the field of design and interior design – the iF Product Design Award and Red Dot Design Award. The jury assessed not only the design but also the environmental friendliness, functionality and ergonomics of the object, as well as its brand value. The designer decorated black and white tile, with gold silhouettes of matryoshka dolls. He made a few samples for diversity: dolls vary in scale, composition and form, and look particularly harmonious in combination with each other. The cost of tiles – from 4 248 RUB.
"Matryoshkus Blanco" set was released by "Art. Lebedev Studio" in 2007. Taking the usual form of a matryoshka, the designers decided to show the correct sequence of units of information on its example: bits, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes and terabytes. In the set, as you might guess, there are six dolls, the smallest being one bit, as the basis of everything. The dolls themselves are white, with printed on them in black letters – no elaborate decorative patterns, just information. Now the dolls are unfortunately unavailable. Former price – 1 800 RUB
